Defining the parameters

Finally, we set up a Parameter Scheme to calculate the parameters we are actually interested in, which are the average values (or, depending on the research question, perhaps the maximum values) of the lengths we defined in the Variable Scheme.

In ProCalc, select the Parameters tab, and create a new scheme:

  1. Add a new variable, named AverageFL1_LeftFootDistance.
  2. Choose Function Average and Variable A [Event A, Event B].
  3. Select A = Length -> LeftFootLine_to_ForceLine1_Dist.
  4. Finally, select Input Events: A=FirstValidFrame, B=LastValidFrame.
    The calculated value is displayed in the log.
  5. Define the equivalent for the other distances in the Variable Scheme.
  6. You can use the Copy and Mirror functions to quickly generate the right side but you will have to manually do the average ASISLine.

As a final output variable, perhaps you're interested in the quotient of the left and right distances defined above? You can add this as follows:

  1. Add a new parameter named LeftRightLean, Function Parameter -> Parameter A / Parameter B.
  2. As Input Parameters, choose AverageFL1_LeftFootDistance and AverageFL1_RightFootDistance.

    This gives you a value which is higher than 1 if the force vector is closer to the right foot than the left.
