Hibernate sensors from Capture.U Desktop
In Capture.U Desktop 1.4.1 or later, you can hibernate any sensor that is in the sensor list.
Hibernating a sensor places it into 'ship' mode, which effectively turns off the current to the sensor to help prolong its charge while it is not in use. This helps to:
- Promote a healthier battery by limiting the time a sensor is at 0% charge
- Prolong the battery life by reducing the number of charge cycles required to fulfill the above
Note
While in hibernation mode, a sensor only needs to be charged every six months, depending on the battery health.

Place sensors in hibernation mode
To place a sensor in hibernation using Capture.U Desktop:
- Ensure the sensor is currently connected to Capture.U Desktop.
Note: You cannot place a sensor in hibernation mode while it is actively collecting data.
Navigate to the sensor tab and expand the sensor you want to hibernate.
Click Hibernate.
Verify that the correct sensor is selected, then click Hibernate.
If you have chosen the wrong sensor, click Cancel and repeat steps 2 and 3.
A message informs you if the sensor hibernated successfully.
The sensor is removed from the whitelist of any iOS device until it is removed from hibernation.
Note
Placing a sensor in hibernation mode does not affect the data on the sensor.
Remove sensors from hibernation
To remove a sensor from hibernation, take the sensor out of the cradle, re-cradle it and plug the USB cable into a power source.
After a brief pause, both LEDs indicate that it is charging (see Understand Vicon IMU sensor status).
