  • Play back video and 3D visualization in Nexus Insight

When you've created a report (see Create a Nexus Insight report), you can view all data and media within it. This includes synchronized playback of video(s), 3D visualization and graphs.

The following topics describe interacting with video and 3D visualizations. For information on graphs, see Work with Nexus Insight graphs.

    Playback types and options

You can play back the following media types:

    • Video player
Nexus Insight plays back videos exported from Nexus in H.264 and MP4 format, with a maximum frame rate of 150 Hz.
If force overlay data is available, the video player displays a force vector overlay.

    • 3D player
Nexus Insight supports the 3D visualization of the following types of data from Nexus-generated C3D files:

      • Markers

      • Labeled markers

      • Segments connecting markers

      • Force platforms

      • Force vectors

How to play videos and 3D visualizations

To play videos and 3D visualizations:

    1. In Nexus Insight, open the relevant report (see Open a Nexus Insight report).

    2. In the Data in report section, click a trial name.
The player automatically starts and the graphs are synchronized with the media.
Playback is indicated by vertical moving lines on top of the graphs, called playheads.
Orange and blue playheads indicate left and right foot strike (if applicable) respectively.

    3. Use the playback controls to move around and select along the time bar. For information on the controls, hover over the Information icon to the left of the time bar.

For more information about the visualization of cycle events (such as gait events: foot strike and foot off) on the time bar, see About the Nexus Insight time bar.

Display a video overlay in the 3D player

To help you to interpret movement and biomechanical data, you can display a video overlay on top of a 3D visualization, as shown in the following example.

To display a video overlay in the 3D player:

    1. In the relevant Nexus Insight report, select a trial to run the associated 3D visualizations and videos.

    2. In the 3D player, click the Cycle video overlay icon in the top left corner.

A video overlay is displayed with the 3D visualization.

      displayVideoOverlay.png

Note: For a cropped trial, the video overlay plays for the full length of the trial, but the C3D contains only the cropped data range so the markers remain static until the video and C3D are aligned.

    3. Click the Cycle video overlay icon again to skip through the available videos. For each video, the 3D view adjusts to the camera calibration values that match the video perspective.

    4. When you've cycled through all the available videos, the next click on the Cycle video overlay icon reverts to the original view of the 3D player without the video.

    Tip
You can also display the video overlay in split screen layout (see Configure Nexus Insight layouts).

    Change playback speed

You can change the playback speed to any of the available settings while playing all media in Nexus Insight.

    To change playback speed:

    1. To the left of the time bar, select the playback speed.

      changePlayback.png
    2. From the speeds displayed, select the required option.
The playback speed for all layouts / views in the current report are changed.

    Note
Note that playback speed is a temporary view setting for the current report. When you change this setting, the playback speed for all layouts / views within the current report are changed. When you reopen the report or open another report, playback speed returns to the default (1x) speed.
